August at Blessings in Action: Street View Arts, free massages, walks and more
Hello August! ☀️
I hope you are managing to enjoy the summer - even if the school holidays sometimes feel less like a holiday and more like running a small, very demanding summer camp!
This month, we have something especially exciting to share. We are beginning a brand-new creative project, alongside our usual free wellbeing activities.
Introducing Street View Arts 🎨📷
We are delighted to introduce Street View Arts, a new project funded by Arts Council England.
Some of you have already contacted us to express an interest - thank you! This is the first of our updates, and we will be sharing more information with you over the coming weeks.
For those hearing about the project for the first time, Street View Arts will offer people the opportunity to explore photography, zine-making and street art as different ways of sharing their own experiences, perspectives and stories.
You do not need to consider yourself an artist, have any previous experience or create something “perfect.”
This project is about real stories, not perfect art.
The project may particularly benefit people whose lives, work or experiences are not always seen or understood by others. However, we want everyone taking part to feel comfortable, respected and welcome.
Places will be limited. Please reply to this email if you are interested, or share this information with someone you feel may benefit.
How the workshops will work
There will be three different types of creative workshops, with three sessions in each section:
📷 Photography 📖 Zine-making 🎨 Street art and mural-making
We would love participants to attend most of the workshops where possible. This will give them the greatest opportunity to develop their ideas and create work that could be included in our exhibition.
However, we understand that life can be unpredictable, so attending every workshop is not an obligation.
Each workshop will be offered at two accessible community venues:
Weston Artspace at the Old Town Quarry
North Somerset Training Hub
Participants can choose whichever venue works best for them and can mix and match between the two locations.
Photography workshops
Weston Artspace – Wednesdays
23 September 2026
30 September 2026
7 October 2026
North Somerset Training Hub – Thursdays
24 September 2026
1 October 2026
8 October 2026
Ideally, participants would attend three photography sessions in total, choosing from the six available dates.
Zine-making workshops
During these workshops, participants will use their photographs, thoughts and stories to create their own small publications, known as zines.
The sessions will take place on:
Wednesday 11 November 2026
Wednesday 18 November 2026
Wednesday 25 November 2026
A workshop will be available at both Weston Artspace and North Somerset Training Hub on each date. Participants will choose one venue per session.
Street art and mural workshops
The third part of the project will take place in February 2027, with dates to be confirmed nearer the time.
Participants will explore street art and create work that will become part of a collaborative mural.
Your work could be exhibited at Weston Museum
The project will finish with a special two-week exhibition at Weston Museum, beginning on Tuesday 8 June 2027.
The opening ceremony will also take place on 8 June, with further details to follow.
This will be a wonderful opportunity for participants’ photographs, zines and creative work to be seen, valued and celebrated by the wider community.
We will share workshop times, accessibility information and registration details shortly. For now, simply reply to this email if you haven't yet registered your interest.
Please also feel free to forward this email to someone who may enjoy or benefit from taking part.
Free massage appointments – Wednesday 26 August 💆
We also have another afternoon of free individual massage sessions through our Calm Together project thanks to the support of the National Lottery Community Fund.
These short appointments provide a little protected time to pause, breathe and allow someone else to look after you for a change.
Places are limited and each appointment has its own booking link, so please choose the time that suits you:
Appointments are free, but advance booking is essential. Please book only one space per person so as many people as possible can benefit.
Hike for Hope - August walks 🌿
Our friendly Hike for Hope community, thanks to Sport England, will continue meeting every Tuesday throughout August.
These walks are about much more than exercise. They offer fresh air, gentle movement, conversation and the encouragement of walking alongside other people.
You do not need to be highly experienced or super-fit. Please read the individual event information before booking so you know what to expect from each route.

You do not need to be a Christian, have any previous knowledge or make any commitment. You are welcome to join, listen, ask questions or simply see whether it is something that supports you.

All the activities included in this newsletter are provided free of charge, thanks to the generosity of our funders and the people who support our work.
Please take care of yourselves during August, keep hydrated and remember that rest does not always have to be earned.
Thank you for being part of our Blessings in Action community.
