Blessings in Action CIC - September 2026

Hello September!

How are you feeling? And how was your summer?

Summer can look very different for each of us. For some, it brings a chance to slow down and relax. For others, it can actually be one of the busiest and most stressful times of the year - especially when juggling work, children, caring responsibilities, running a household and everything else life decides to throw into the mix.

We hope that, somewhere amongst it all, you managed to find a few moments for yourself.

We certainly enjoyed the sunshine and hopefully, like us, you managed to soak up a little vitamin D along the way! Although we’re not going to lie… after all that heat, those few drops of rain over the past few days were very gladly welcomed too!

Feeling overwhelmed?

If the honest answer to “How are you?” is “a little overwhelmed”, please remember that support is available even between our workshops.

Our free Resources page offers practical tools and information to help manage stress and anxiety and some of the effects they can have on everyday life.

Whether you’re having a difficult day, feeling the pressure building, or simply want a few more tools in your wellbeing toolkit, take a look and use whatever feels helpful to you.

And now… here’s what’s happening at Blessings in Action this September.

A Rather Special Summer Moment…

Mindfulness session
Wellbeing support gathering

We were absolutely delighted to learn that Blessings in Action CIC is a finalist

in TWO categories at the Female Business Awards 2026!

Services to Local Communities & Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Champion

For a still relatively young and small Community Interest Company, simply reaching the finals feels like a wonderful achievement.

It is also a recognition of the many people who have helped Blessings in Action grow - our participants, volunteers, facilitators, partners, supporters and wider community.

The gala takes place in October, so we’ll be keeping everything crossed!

Whatever happens on the night, being selected as a finalist already means a great deal to us.

Free Massage Sessions

Thursday 17 September

Our popular free massage sessions are back - and this month we have released more appointments than usual.

There is also a lovely reason why we will be taking a little break afterwards.

One of our dear facilitators is expecting her first baby!

We know many of you value familiar faces and consistency, so rather than bringing someone new in for just a couple of months, we have decided to pause the massage sessions while she welcomes her little bundle of joy into the world.

The free massage sessions will return in January 2027.

So, if you’ve been thinking about booking one, September is your chance!

Think of it as a little opportunity to release some tension and recharge before the stresses of the festive season begin creeping in.

AVAILABLE APPOINTMENTS

Spaces are limited, so please book early.

How to Say No, Set Boundaries & Handle Difficult Conversations

This month’s psychological wellbeing session (part of our CALM TOGETHER project ) focuses on something many of us struggle with:

Boundaries.

How often do we say “yes” when we really want to say “no”?

How do we protect our wellbeing without feeling guilty?

And how can we handle difficult conversations without creating even more stress?

This practical session will explore how healthy boundaries can support our emotional wellbeing, reduce unnecessary stress and help us communicate more confidently in everyday life.

A Space to Explore Faith

Thursdays at 8:30pm | Online

Every Thursday evening, Pastor Boat leads our Pastoral Wellbeing Space.

These are relaxed online sessions for anyone who already has a faith, is curious about faith, or would simply like to explore how a faith-based approach might support us when dealing with stress, anxiety and everyday challenges.

You don’t need to be a Christian. You don’t need to know the Bible. And there is absolutely no pressure or obligation.

Come along, listen, explore, ask questions if you wish - or simply be present.

SEPTEMBER’S BIG HIGHLIGHT

STREET VIEW ARTS IS HERE!

After months of planning, we’re incredibly excited that thanks to Arts Council England, the workshops for our Street View Arts project are about to begin!

And Street View Arts is about much more than simply learning to take photographs.

Over the coming months, participants will explore photography, storytelling, zine-making and eventually public art, with each stage building upon the one before.

The project is about capturing perspectives, experiences and stories from within our community through creativity.

And you absolutely do not need to think of yourself as “artistic” to take part.

First Up: Photography

The first stage is a three-part Photography series, and you can choose between two locations.

Because the sessions build upon one another, we strongly encourage participants to attend all three workshops at their chosen location where possible.

What Comes Next?

The photographs and ideas created during these workshops will then feed into the next stage:

Zine Making!

Zines are small, creative magazines combining pictures, stories and ideas.

Those sessions begin in November and can already be found under Events on our website.

We’ll send the direct links in next month’s newsletter though - we don’t want to overwhelm you with everything at once!

We’ve Been in the News!

Street View Arts has already been attracting some lovely local attention.

You can read about the project in the Weston Mercury:

Prefer listening?

On 31 August 2026, we joined BBC Radio Bristol to talk about the project, why it matters and how local people can become involved.

And Finally… Something Very Special

Hike for Hope trekking
Mindfulness session

There are some letters you open without giving them much thought.

And then there are the ones that make you look at the sender twice.

This summer, Blessings in Action received correspondence from Kensington Palace.

But perhaps the most special part was who the message was for.

It wasn’t simply addressed to one person.

The Prince and Princess of Wales “send their warmest thanks and very best wishes to everyone involved with Blessings in Action.”

And that is exactly how we would like to end this month’s newsletter.

Because everyone involved means our participants, volunteers, directors, facilitators, partners, funders, supporters, community organisations - and all of you who read our newsletters, attend our activities, share our work, encourage us or quietly support what we are building.

Blessings in Action has never been about one person.

It is about what can happen when people choose to care, connect and create something positive together.

So those very special wishes from Kensington Palace belong to all of you too.

Here’s to a wonderful September.

We hope to see many of you at one of our sessions soon!

With warmest wishes,

The Blessings in Action CIC Team
